As a guest of ours here at Hotel Crescent Court, you’ve got many of the top attractions in Dallas, Texas within minutes of your luxury accommodations.
Among those attractions is one of the biggest art museums in the U.S. The Dallas Museum of Art (1717 North Harwood, Dallas, TX) is a linchpin of the Arts District, and an absolute must-visit while you’re enjoying our impeccable hospitality here in Uptown!
The Dallas Museum of Art got its start via the creation of the Dallas Arts Association way back in 1903. Today, it serves as one of the country’s all-around premier institutions of its kind, boasting 24,000-plus pieces in a collection that spans thousands of years and the far reaches of the globe.
Asian, African, European, Ancient Mediterranean, American, and Contemporary are only some of the categories defining the museum’s vast holdings. And it’s all yours to enjoy—with free general admission, no less—not even a mile from Hotel Crescent Court.
Along with the stellar permanent collection, the Dallas Museum of Art is known for its rich lineup of temporary and traveling exhibitions. This winter is certainly no exception.
Check out, for example, the works of a hugely influential Mexican-American sculptor and painter in Octavio Medellín: Spirit & Form, on display through January 15th of next year. The augmented-reality sculptures of the Ha Įlè AR Experience, which you can enjoy up to the end of January, celebrate North America’s profound indigenous heritage.
Through February 12th, meanwhile, you can admire one of the legendary Jean-Michel Basquiat’s works, Sam F, the first to grace the Dallas Museum of Art’s collection. And running through February 19th, the DMA presents the first museum retrospective of the late, acclaimed self-taught painter Matthew Wong in Matthew Wong: The Realm of Appearances.
